The Ridg-U-Rak Solution: Seismic Zone Building Codes Met
Ridg-U-Rak began the arduous task of furnishing credible documentation to satisfy the strict seismic building codes of the city. Simultaneously, three quarters of a million pounds of storage rack had to be designed, manufactured, shipped 3,000 miles and installed, all in a one month time frame. Many inevitable little glitches were overcome and the 190,000 sq. ft. facility was completed in a timely fashion and resulted in a satisfied customer. Ontario, CA, is located in seismic zone four and has one of the most strict building codes in the country. Ridg-U-Rak engineers designed the rack to withstand these severe earthquake forces. Not long afterward, that design was put to the test. Four months after completion an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit just 50 miles northwest of Ontario. The system sustained no damage, while some competitor rack systems in the same area suffered extreme destruction. |
